Pump gas 532 heading to the dyno, 12/16

Getting this bad little pump gas 532 ready for the dyno on the 16th, after we get back from PRI.
It has a Dart block, 4" Scat crank, 6.535" H beam rods with ARP2000 bolts. Mahle 4.60" x 13cc dome pistons and rings, Gen6 Rollmaster timing set, Straub custom billet hyd roller and .903 Morel hyd. roller lifters. Heads are ProMaxx 317cc w/2.30 intake, 1.88 ex REV valves, Associated springs, Straub design/Sharp rockers specific for these heads, Smith Brothers 7/16 pushrods in GM guide plates, ARP screw in studs and Jomar stud girdle. Intake is a ported Vic Jr and AED 1000hp 4150 carb on a SuperSucker spacer matched to the enlarged plenum. Balancer is Romac, oil pan is Stefs/B&B, oil pump is Melling M77hv. Engine is going in a 4000lb hot street Chevy pick up.

Com'on Scott! I suppose the part number isn't even pointing up on that push rod! Pretty sloppy if you ask me!

Good luck Scott. Looking forward to the results. Do you have any specs, like cam and Comp. Ratio?

What do YOU think this should do Hp/Tq wise? Looks like a fun setup for that 4000 lbs truck

Re: Pump gas 532 heading to the dyno, 12/16

Thanks for posting those pics Scott, it's obvious your partner in crime has been holding out on me!!!

Truck ('69 C10 swb) will be running a Liberty Gears prepped/upgraded TKO-600 five speed, RAM 10.5" '900 series' dual disc clutch & aluminum flywheel. 3.73 gears are the 12 bolt with a Detroit Truetrac. Hotchkis bits for suspension, Chassisworks DA shocks. Headers will be 2 1/8", but I won't be able to dyno with them, as they are being custom made and obviously the motor has to be in the truck for that.

I do plan on scaling the truck once everything is back together to see exactly where it's at. I was running a Straub Cam in the 468 before this with a stock TKO-500, 245* @ .050", .646", 107LSA. This new 'baby cam' 532 should cruise Arkansas' finest backroads nicely in 5th gear. I'll just tell everyone it's a stock 396 with an 'rv' cam.

Re: Pump gas 532 heading to the dyno, 12/16

Nice build Adam gonna be a torque monster for sure ........I'd be interested to how that TKO holds up, I see you going alum wheel assume to soften the hit , I too have a TKO 600 faceplated etc by liberty was behind my 600 hp+ 439 and at track with slicks I have hurt it ...... so very concerned how it will live behind my new 475" build on street should be ok but at track not sure Iam looking at clutches and that Ram 900 is on my list just debating on whether to go 15 lb alum wheel 05 22lb steel

Do you plan track time with slicks ??

BTW if you look close you can see my new foxwell build behind yours on back wall with alum Stefs pan little brother to yours sorta

Re: Pump gas 532 heading to the dyno, 12/16

Adam, is that there dual disc clutch or a Powergrip HD? I'm not sure if that clutch IF IT'S NOT a dual-disc, is up to the job? I'm pretty sure that this motor will exceed the 650Hp limit on of the Powergrip clutches, or be REAL close? Also the TKO stuff I haven't heard a lot of good either, but should be ok if your not racing these. I think your going to be on the edge, or surpass, the limits of the parts. Then to be in a 4000lbs truck!!!!!!

Since the 900 is a sintered iron disc, that should be good, but I've heard alot of good things about the "long style" Ram 473 clutches with the sintered iron disc.

Good luck and keep us informed on the progress.

Scott ,I really like the 4'' stroke builds and you seem to prefer them as well over the big stroke combos. Is that the case ?

Clutch is 10.5" dual disc. I talked to the guys at Liberty Gear and gave them the rundown on what the power output was going to be and I was committed to the TKO case size as I was already running the tko500 and set up for that. I don't plan on too many launches on slicks, but I do intend on seeing what she'll do on a real 1/4 mile track at some point. I don't have many options when it comes to drag strips around Little Rock anyway. This truck is just a sports car/toy to me, my grocery getter is a '65 Chevy Bel Air wagon

Yes the dual disc Ram with 900 disc is what I'm looking at too you should be fine if you don't hook hard and or does not hit too hard on gear changes I have bent the shift rail on mine going into 3rd don't take much that internal 3 rail setup is not the best IMO

Good luck guys! I personally would NEVER run that style of clutch unless it came from Cale Aronson.

Take a look here:

Chevelle updates | Supercar/Musclecar Discussion | The Supercar Registry Bulletin Board

Just over 600Hp 489 and has beem through 3 Ram clutches like that. I would swap the PP out for a Long style plate.

A little premature but Cale is working on his version of a Ram DD I'm on the list hopefully early summer
