Summit 1103

Just pulled out the cam in a 30 over 283. Had a Summit 1103 in it. Anyone know if this was a good combo with 601 305 heads and a uncut deck with 4 valve relief flat top pistons?

Currently undergoing a metal work to remove all rust, if I ever get there.

Cant decide on prostreet or cruiser with a 4 speed.

That cam is very close in spec to the one GM uses in it's 350 HO/330hp crate motor which uses Vortec heads.
Might be a little large for a 283...depending on application (gears & trans).

M22 rockcrusher and 3.73 gears with 26 inch tall tires. In a 92 s10.

I looked at the summit site and it says its like 288/298 and around 214 @ 050 on a 112.

I think the Voodoo 262 would be a better choice.

Re: Summit 1103

Yeah it's a pretty weenie 40-yr-old design...

As a species, we've advanced ourselves somewhat since back then. You can do MUCH better than that old generically copied copy of a generic copy of a generic copied copy of a generic cam-shaped object. Whatever you "save" by re-using it, will QUICKLY be ate up in buying other parts to "throw" at it to overcome the shortcomings of the cam, the poor gas mileage, the buy-backs in rounds you lose, etc. etc. etc. Life is too short to spend it that way.
