350 low buck build for the 74.

Hey I am back for a day or two . working on the 74.
I picked up a 350 LT1 with a cracked head.
Decided to try and make this a little easier on the eyes.
93 350 roller cam block. Torque plate honed, Decked .020.
Stock crank.
Mahle hyper 4 valve relief flat top pistons -4cc.
Cam @.050 224/234 510in/520ex lift, 112LSA.
PC 190 heads with 68.5cc chamber.
not sure on intake yet.
Carb will be a 950 or 1000 E-85 blow though setup.
Borg Warner, Gm-5 turbo, its from a 6.5L diesel.
Tial external waste gate and blow off valve both 44mm.
FMIC and 2.5 pipes from a eclipse.
Home built Hot side pipes.
I will see how she runs. I am not expecting much N/A but once the turbo is back in place I am hopping to push her close to her limit maybe 8-14lbs boost, no more then that on E-85. I know she is not Ideal but she just has to hold till I get the money to finish my 408.

Re: 350 low buck build for the 74.

Craigslis helped a lot. got the turbo and a honda header for 50 and used the flange from it on a ford power stroke stainless Y pipe to supply the turbo with exhaust have not finished it yet kinda followed what others I know did on there chevelle's here. I used a really nice down pipe for a 2gdsm that is called an 02 pipe. The 44mm waste gate was already mounted on it. It is a real nice piece with great tig welds, guy builds them for the local DSM club. I had to change the flange for my turbo so my welds from a mig don't look as good but it will work.

Re: 350 low buck build for the 74.

The turbo was blown so I am gonna get a new cartridge for it. They can be had for around $300. that will make it a new turbo and a name brand at that. These turbo's still go for $700 remand and 900-1000 plus new.

Re: 350 low buck build for the 74.

Just to let you know this is just to shake the car out and perfect the turbo setup. I am going to build a stronger combo for racing.

400 509 block bored .040 with steel billet splayed caps. decked as needed for pistons.
scat 9000 series 3.48 stroke crank with spacers.
scat I beam rods the good ones with 7/16 bolts they are called "Pro comp" rods. Not to be confused with the company that made my heads.
TRW forged blower/turbo pistons reverse dome .28cc they are for use with 5.7 rod on 3.48 stroke or 3.75 stroke with 5.565 rods. You can machine them to flattop by removing .115 and then run a 5.7 rod with 3.75 stroke if you don't deck the block. .135 if you deck the block.
solid roller cam not sure what yet.
Same Carb and intake as the 350.

Re: 350 low buck build for the 74.

Build took a turn for the better all.
First I picked up a set of Probe forged FPS pistons flattop 2VR with -4cc also picked up a set of ARP rod bolts for the PM rods and a stud girdle for the 2 bolt main block. Block is now getting bored .030 and torque plate honed. gonna be a 355ci now with a little better parts also my not get the turbo may be N20. Still will be run on E-85.
