402 bbc 500 hp?

I have a 1970 402 bbc. Checked my casting numbers and it makes 325/335hp. I've heard its hard to make huge hp from a 402. Hopefully can tell me the range I'm in. Here is what the motor has:

10.5:1 CR
Lunati 60204 cam and lifter kit .554/.572
Aluminum oval port heads 2.25 int/1.85 exh
Edelbrock Air Gap Intake
Holley 750 Double Pumper
2800 stall with 3:73 gears out back.

Thanks

Re: 402 bbc 500 hp?

If I'm in the 450-500 range I'm totally okay with that. I know the only true way is to dyno. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. This is my first big block build

Re: 402 bbc 500 hp?

Drove it before with the cast iron heads and a 650, but swapping the aluminum heads on with the 750 this weekend. It has hooker comp headers and super 44 flow masters

Re: 402 bbc 500 hp?

I personally wouldn't use the Procomps or heads with a 2.25" valve in that bore due to shrouding. A decent set of factory closed chamber ovals will do wonders for the 396/402 based engines.

Re: 402 bbc 500 hp?

It came with the the factory ovals. I'm not a fan of cast iron heads. All the extra weight but can you give me a little more explanation about the shrouding with 2.25s
