Question Street/Strip SBC (327/350) Solid FT Cam

Sure wish the VooDoo line included some solid lifter FT cams.
Would love to have a SBC solid cam
"equivalent" to the BBC 04 Voodoo Hyd.,
i.e., with same sort of street manners.

So, the Q is:

Is anyone running any of the solid lifter
FT COMP Magnum cams in their 327/350?

And are you liking it?

Got the SB combo to support the 290 Magnum,
but are any better/newer cams out there?

TIA ---

There are solid FT voodoo cams. The small block equivilant to the bbc 04 is the sbc 04. Anyway, whats the specs of your engine, tranny, gears, ect. I don`t know the specs of the 290 magnum but unless your over 11:1 I would look at something a little smaller. My old Schnieder solid cam was 284/288 248/254@.050 .530/.530 on a 108LSA. It`s a great cam, good street manners and with 10.3:1 and ported gm heads it ran low 12`s.

lunati has hyd FT and roller, and solid FT and roller.
they dont really advertise them for some reason.
go to their website, check it out, and then put the part number into jegs or summit, and it will tell you how much and if it has it in stock. thats how i found my hyd roller (60122)

or you could go with a nice custom cam lol.

A GREAT solid flat tappet camshaft in a 327 with 10:1 compression is a Crane Cams 110921 , Now that they are open again I would think getting one is no issue what so ever

It will turn 7,000rpm no issue on the street, Making power is another story. It will want around 6,500rpm shifts and run it out in high gear 7,000-7,200rpm

It will drive descent and have killer throttle response (specs below)

280/288 @.020" 244/252 @.050" .518"/536" 106 lobe seperation angle

I have yet to see a newer modern cam out perform it. Most newer cams will out perform older cams but there are a few older cams that are just right for specific applications and this is it

Hey Hot Rod, when did you see a back to back test on an old crane design vs a new voodoo sft.

Hey Palm Tree

Have seen that grind against some modern Comp lobes and UltraDyne/Lunati lobes , many newer cams will outperform the older ones but their are some applications where the older camshaft is so "perfect" a newer one is not gonna out perform it

And in the 70's many Crane lobes were 30 years+ ahead of their time, which brings us to today and all the modern lobes that are similar to the Crane's (mostly roller here)

We have the SAME lobe family as the 110921 and you cant argue its performance, By the way the one in the Camaro BLEW some newer grinds away & I have 160 seat pressure & 400 open WITH ZERO ISSUES and camshaft looks like new, Do that with a modern camshaft

Butch, you know I have to bust your balls just because you are you.
You need to do back to back testing. And by the way what happened to that cylinder head test. WE ARE ALL WAITING. ***** or get off the pot as grandma used to say.

You wont see any data until you have it all

Track just opened but the weather is still not stable, Weather needs to be consistent

Some time in May is when the track testing will start due to stable weather from week to week that way there is not a HUGE difference even though we will have the DA numbers and all the data printed out
