Thumbs up Profiler SBC Head Test.

We are currently working with Mike & Darrin over @ Profiler Heads with some designing/testing with there new street line of heads. Our first test was with a nice streetable 355 build that consistantly hits 408hp/414tq. The build is as follows:

Edelbrock Performer RPM #60899 64cc Head 170cc runners, 2.02/1.60
350 4 Bolt, 1pc .030 over
Scat 9000 Rotating assembly 10.1:1 Compression
HYD Roller Cam 220/224 @ 50 528/536 Lift
Aluminum 1.6 Rocker
Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
Holley Street Avenger 770CFM
HP = 408 @5600RPM
TQ = 414 @3900RPM

After getting the heads from Mike & Darrin we were VERY impressed with the casting as well as the machine work done and Mark Johnson gave his approval. They have ALOT of meat for porting. After getting the proper springs, studs and guide plates worked out we ran into a small snag. The heads would not clear a 1.6 rocker. We decided to just use a set of 1.5's we had and see how it would perform. The Profiler heads were 64cc/ 195cc/ 2.02/1.60 Valves, everthing else the same other than the rockers and we decided to use an Edelbrock 650CFM carb. After a few pulls we saw 404HP @5600RPM/438TQ @ 4000RPM. Dropped just a few HP, but gained 24ftlbs of torque and again this is with a 1.5 rocker rather than the 1.6 thats normally used.

We are VERY IMPRESSED with the heads, not only because the quality and attention to detail that went into these heads, but also the fact that they are a bit cheaper than the Edelbrock Heads as well. They are now retooling the heads to our specs and to be a more common/streetable performance head. I would recommend these heads to anyone looking for a great performance head at a great price. Next we need to compare them to the AFR/Dart heads....we feel pretty confident that they will be right up there with them if not better. If anyone is looking for a set, let me know

We will be testing with a 383 Stroker here in a few weeks. I will let you know how that ends up

Re: Profiler SBC Head Test.

The only thing thats messed up is how can you compare a 195cc runner Pro Filer head up against an Edelbrock 170cc runner head

Maybe i missed something ?

Re: Profiler SBC Head Test.

The main purpose was the bang/performance/quality for the buck. Every aspect of the head was better and for less money With the 1.6 Rocker we expect to see upwards of about 425hp/450tq....How much does Horsepower cost and mean to you????

Thanks for the explanation !

I was just a little lost there for a few

I thought you were doing an apple to apple test such as 170cc Edelbrocks to Pro Filer 170cc

How about comparing them to Dart 200 platinum and AFR 195's ?

Working on it. Right now Darrin is saying that the 195cc heads out flow the Dart 220cc's.....Very promising

Re: Profiler SBC Head Test.

awesome stuff, do you have the flow numbers. Interesting how the bigger head made way more torque. Can we get some pics?

A set of headers is only a couple hundred and these heads have the potential to make ALOT more power. This is just a regular build we do.

Customer wanted a 650 carb on this build for streetability. These edelbrock 650cfm carbs are very nice and always put out great numbers. They had it pulled from the dyno before I found out about it...I wanted to see it with the same carb as well!!!

Brandon, how do you set the float levels on an Edelbrock ? There may be HP left on the table

You can PM if you would like
