Re: The 427 bbc is finished-hp & torque?

wow, NEED me one of those in my '67. sho would be a step up from my ol 396. I like the short stroke setup myself. should wind up pretty good/quick.
my guess: 530 hp 560 ft lb....
let us know how it go. been leaning towards one of those year one 502 motors. heard any feedback on those ? not to change the all important subject of course....

Re: The 427 bbc is finished-hp & torque?

After watching my engine builder/ machinist build my motor I could not go for an assembly line motor. There is just too much small stuff. That being said a warranty is a nice thing to have.

I may run e85 or race gas. It has a muncie m20 with a stock 411 12 bolt rear end. I haven't jumped on the carb yet not sure which way to go.

Re: The 427 bbc is finished-hp & torque?

Well i am already a day behind so if i get the motors swapped in the 67 i will go to the test and tune friday night at atlanta drag way. I will run street tires because i don't want to break anything on my son's chevelle. Then one day next week to the chassis dyno. If i get to run friday night i will post results. I am more interested in trap speed than time cause i am old and slow! Shifting that muncie will be a challenge.

Question for Chris, why the 15* split on the cam? Do you plan on running nitrous?

Re: The 427 bbc is finished-hp & torque?

I am not planning on running nitrous. I am not an engine specialist so Chris will have to answer that question.
Thanks

Tom,
The Race Rites IE ratio on these is not that great and David is going to turn this ole girl so it needed some exhaust duration to achieve this. With these heads I have found a 12 + split on them works very well. The engine should be a blast.

Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?

Thanks Chris! If I ever get time to install this ole girl in the chevelle I will be turning her up. I appreciate the advice you gave me and the products that you provided me with. everything you sell and do is top notch. I will also say that Mike at Wolfplace has a wealth of knowledge and quality products at great prices. There are many members here at Team Chevelle who build motors professionally and many who do it as a hobby and anytime one of them posts here there is something to be learned. Wish I had my own machine shop, dyno, drag strip and a trillion dollars, we could all just tune and tech forever. We would not have to read bias tests in the ads and mags, we could sort this stuff out ourselves. Hey maybe thats what Team Chevelle needs!
