who runs a non-tinny sounding exhaust

So, got my new motor built and running. sounds great, but the tinniness of it is driving me crazy. here is what i have.

355 10:1cr
voodoo hyd roller 60122 (535/550 lift 231/239)
brodix ik180's
dynomax non ceramic coated headers
2.5" jegs xpipe
moroso spirolflow mufflers
flowmaster tails.

my issue is that it is real tinny before the mufflers. im not sure if its the material of the pipes, or the x pipe or headers. so im trying to get an idea as to who runs what, and if they have any sound clips.
im also thinking of changing out the mufflers to some Borla or magnaflows. i have corsa on my trans am, but i cant get the balls up to pay 250 a pop for mufflers.

im curious as to what you guys run, from headers to tails. i want something that sounds smooth and yet loud, possibly with an xpipe. flowmasters are out of the question though, sorry.

thanks.

I just purchased some Corsa DB mufflers for my car. I have not put them on yet though. Jegs has them for $179.

Re: who runs a non-tinny sounding exhaust

I think exhaust sounds are a personal choice, everyone has different opinions about what they like.My Chevelle has Hedman Headers and a complete Borla stainless exhaust system on it including the mufflers.I think it sounds like crap and has a cheap cheesy glasspack sound when you get on it. It was on the car when I bought it years ago.I probably won't ever replace it(unless I win the lottery) as it will probably out last me.JMO.

Magnaflow, Ultraflow, Borla, or any straight-thru design with packing will do. Any of the directional mufflers using wave cancellation and no packing is gonna have that "tin" sound.

Borlas and a "H" pipe crossover will do the trick......

Re: who runs a non-tinny sounding exhaust

hm, thanks guys.

my mufflers are not directional. i believe its coming from headers to mufflers, but sounds great out the back. i just am not sure what would make it sound better.

my lt1 trans am doesnt have a tinny sound. but its got stok manifolds, magnflow cat, corsa cat back. its 3" and single, maybe that has something to do with it.

maybe its just the cam. i had an XE268 in the last 350, and it sounded tinny also. but i just always though it was the valves slamming shut.

what about using header wrap from the headers to the mufflers? good or bad idea?

we'll see what i can come up with.

3" Hooker Aerochambers with an X pipe and dumps in front of the axle. They sound great IMO and have a low rumble to them. It's a little loud, but not enough to make the neighbors call the cops on me.

Was there a flash coming out of the left side at about the 20 second mark?

Its the X pipe, any car that I've heard with one sounds like a pissed off bumble bee as the rpms climb. At idle, my sounds deep, throaty and loud with the Dynomax bullets
