I don't know about power, but quality is something to consider. I just replaced my Super Comps after 22 years because of minor holes. 22 years! I think that is pretty good.

My 2117s are still going strong after 30 years. Super Comps rule.
Bought them new in '78, and I do maintain them more than most builders do, but it only amounts to keeping them clean and having them stripped and repainted every 3-4 years.

My 2217s went on in '98, and have zero problems.

Agreed. I installed Hooker Super Competition Headers on my car back in 1983. Zero Issues, no problems. I would buy another set in a heartbeat.

Probably not enough to justify the price difference.

As to the quality of the two designs, I believe the super comp. had the edge back in the day, I would place a call to Hooker as they would best know the difference if any.

Personally I would be more concerned with the fit, how difficult is it to change the plugs, oil filter, are there any clearance issues, is either design more likely to heat sink the starter.

Just an opinion, nothing more, good luck.

Re: hooker headers 2455 vs 2213

The Comps are nice thick material as well and I doubt the power difference is noticable enough to justify nearly three times the price unless you are trying to get every last HP out of a race engine and cost is no issue. The Super comps hang lower, especially one tube on the passenger side. Friend Brett had super comps on his 68 and destroyed the tubes on the bottoms.

The Hooker Super Competition Headers are more precise than the Competition Headers and are a better fit. Hooker Competition Headers fit more applications. Super Competition Headers are more specific to certain applications.

Re: hooker headers 2455 vs 2213

The 2455's are a nice header - heavy gauge metal, thick flanges, nice quality. Only issue is that the passenger side collector points down some rather than straight back, which screws up your entire exhaust system somewhat. And unfortunatley, scrapes. Evidently, I'm not the only one who has expirenced this. So basically, I can't recommend these headers. I did have a set of Hedman 66002 2" ceramics that fit excellent (small dimple at the steering shaft) and had excellent ground clearance. I would try these or the Super Comps - although, they are a little pricey for me. And from what I read, the power difference isn't that noticeable between the tuned headers and untuned.

Re: hooker headers 2455 vs 2213

There's a nice set of LEMONS for sale in the classified. IF I needed a set for a BB, that's what I would go with. From my experience, LEMONS makes the best fitting header out there.

I run super comps now.
