forged steel 6223 BBC crank identification

How do I tell if the crankshaft is a 6223 forged steel crankshaft?

It will have the 6223 numbers cast in it on the front few counterweights of the crank.

Not cast b/c if they are cast into it, he'd have a CAST crank.

Yeah, it may have a long number but the last 4 digits will be 6223.

Hit it with a hammer. If it rings like a bell, its forged steel. If it gives a dull thud, its cast iron.
