Has anyone installed or fabricated fenderwell headers on a '70 small block? The only company that I found that lists a set is Patriot and when you look up the part on Summit, the list of cars that the part number fits range from '64 to '77 or more.

I would also be interested in see any pictures of Chevelles or ElCaminos with fenderwell headers.

Thnks
Tom

Mike,

I'm building an elCamino in the style of one I had in highschool. It had headers with 3" pipe T'ed off the collector and exiting behind the front wheel with caps. I am trying to recreat that look, and think fenderwells would work better.

Just trying to be differant.

Re: fenderwell headers

Hah, I'm Jay, and I own a 67 chevelle. I'm runnin a 462 ci big chevy. the car has the Nastalgia look, straight axle. Aluminum custom fenderwells.
Last year for 130 bucks I got some J bends from summit and went to town using an old header flange. Now I have 2 inch Header pipes that are fenderwell, running through Aluminum. and 4 inch collectors down behind the tires. "Fenderwell headers.
Totall cost about 150 buck.
a little nohow.

130 bucks for Material
10 bucks for welding wire,

Re: fenderwell headers

Fenderwell headers will generally fit '55-57 Chevys and '62-67 Novas because there is a lot of room between the front tire and the inner fender panel. There just isn't much front wheel well room in a Chevelle, therefore fenderwell headers would necessitate the front end being raised, (such as the installation of a straight front axle, as noted in a previous post) and the use of small diameter front tires.
