The roll bar isn't legal. The article says that NHRA certified the time, but that you won't be able to use it in competition, because they banned it (at least that is how it reads to me).

OK It makes nice numbers for performance. But would you really want to pay the price for this car and put it in your garage? Bragging rights are cool, but ......

I will give the Mopar guys credit, they are with a doubt more likely to bring their late model performance cars to the track and run them than owners of any other make. I doubt the average person will get their new Demon Challenger to run in the 9's, at least not on the first trip or two to the track, maybe not even then. Most Hellcats are high-11's to low-12's until the owners figure out how to drive them.

NHRA might potentially banned them from certain classes, such as stock eliminator, but not from use on the track. No track is going to ban a car and its driver unless he runs either 9.99 or faster than 134.99 only then will they get booted until or unless the car has a certified cage and the driver a competition license.

It will be interesting to see how long until the new Demon shows up at the local track, I can't recall the last time there wasn't at least one Hellcat that showed up.

I personally enjoyed watching the release video when I had gotten home. Being a youngster, I thought it was actually cool to see a car release that wasn't based on battery life or Fuel economy, but rather see it do a burnout straight out of the box. Needless to say I doubt I'll ever get one, but if I did, green is the way to go.

The engineers keep pushing the envelope ...from a mid 10 second Tesla now to a 9 second FACTORY 800+ car! My 11 second BBC Chevelle is sooooooooo old school.

In some cars they are legal. Those cars are awesome investments for those who can buy them. They are going to cost some green.

id never buy one(i could have 4 chevelles for that price) but the transbrake and other tuning options are awesome. this thing weighs alot though. they must be cramming soo much crap in these things. our factory all steel classic cars weigh 1000lbs less. so 650 or so hp in our cars is equally as fast as these things.

The more cubes the merrier!

Car is great. The price is steep and most cant afford it but whats really going to
break the bank is the dealers added inflation if you want one!

How much are they going to add to the MSRP!

Back when the PT Cruiser was released and advertised loaded at $18k a local dealer
was adding $9995 on top! I told him I wouldnt even pay him $18k, thats stupid and walked
away....thank God that happend lol

So what will the Demon do to the hellcat owners that thought they were buying a collectors item ?

Most interesting to me is that Dodge is cannibalizing itself. This is why Chevy will never remake the Chevelle. For the heritage to be correct it would have to be as fast as the Corvette and have 4 seats.
Now that I think of it Chevy doesn't have one of those......maybe they should.

I don't think dodge is cannibalizing itself. I think they are building a loyal following of performance enthusiasts. On Wednesday nights the late model performance Dodges will outnumber all of the late model Camaros, Mustangs and Corvettes, combined. Since the Hellcats were introduced you see a lot more SRT8 Challengers and Chargers with all engine configurations in the staging lanes. I have no idea if it is translating into car show participation, but it will at some point. They are laying the foundation for life long followers.
