What permit? We got rid of that nonsense here in Maine last year.

Re: Just out of curiosity?

In Arizona there is no requirement for a carry permit anymore. We still have them to satisfy reciprocity rules for other states. I just sent in my 5 year renewal for $43 so that I could have the card that allows me to get into the express lane when buying a gun from a dealer. With the permit there is no NICS phone call. My card is my background check.

Re: Just out of curiosity?

When I first got my permit,30 something years ago,it cost $50. for the town, then I think,$30-35 for the state. Now, they want $370??To renew it,that`s just nuts.
I dont know where the Courant got $140. for 5 years?I think it was $35 when I renewed mine 2 years ago.Unless it went up.Who knows in this state?
This clowns name fits his comments. "Reasonable"???

"I don't see it that way," Looney said. "I agree with the governor that it's a reasonable way to raise some additional revenue."

Price isn't the issue, you just can't get one in California except for extremely limited reasons.

In California I paid $200 plus another $220 for the required two day course for a total of $420. In 2 years I will have to pay to take a 4 hour course and pay $50 for the renewal. They do not make it easy out here.

Re: Just out of curiosity?

Here in Arizona the only permit you would need is a CCW and only if you plan on carrying concealed out of state or into a bar that permits concealed carry. Open carry has never required a permit that I know of and we can carry concealed without a permit now (except for the above exceptions). We are consistently rated at the top as being a gun owner friendly state.

Depends where in CA. Most of the northern counties are fairly easy. L.A., Orange and S.D. are a PITA.

Re: Just out of curiosity?

$50 for a renewal here in Ohio, but I think it was a little higher for the first one. I could be wrong.

My biggest worry is when I pass on my wife will sell all my stuff for what I told her I paid for them.

Re: Just out of curiosity?

I live in Texas and have a Virginia non resident permit. they have reciprocity with Texas and 25 other states. Cost $100, plus $25 for an online class, and $20 for the fingerprint car and pic that I had to send in. Did it all via mail and took a few months. its good for 5 years. In Texas, the initial cost is $140, the all day class is around $100 plus 50 rounds of ammo that you will expend, and $10 for fingerprinting. I go to the range regularly with my carry piece, and have read the law in its entirety multiple times, so the Virginia deal was easier.
