Jack Reacher movie - disappointment

I just watched the Jack Reacher movie trailer on Yahoo. He is driving a 70 Chevelle SS.

WTF?? Reacher is a drifter. He goes by bus or via his thumb.

The fact that the speedometer is not from a Chevelle, or 5'4" midget Tom Cruise is playing 6'5" Reacher.

Blasphemy !

I thought all the drifters were in Japan, driving Japanese cars.

Re: Jack Reacher movie - disappointment

Didn't know there was a Jack Reacher movie. I have read all of the books and Reacher is defiantly not a Chevelle guy. He is cheap, has no permanent wheels but always gets the girl.

Jack Reacher is the protagonist of a series of books by Lee Child. Ex-MP Major who kicks butt.

Re: Jack Reacher movie - disappointment

I love the books, cant stop reading once I open it. I dont think I can watch Tom Cruise as Reacher. While reading the books I always to to imagine what star could play him and Tom Cruise never entered my mind. The fact that Lee Child passes it off as him being 6'5" 250lbs as a metaphor and is happy that tom Cruise is playing the part tells me he only cares about the money. Which is the amereican way, isnt it? Still love the books but dont agree with the actor choice.

Re: Jack Reacher movie - disappointment

Well just saw the clip, doesnt really explain the plot at all. And reacher never drove a car in the book. Oh well, I guess its too much to ask that the movie play out with just a little bit of similarity to the book. At least they got the characters name right.

If you dont know who Jack Reacher is then why even bother to post on a thread about him? Do you ever have anything positive to say? Everytime I see you post on a thread its usually some comment like this? Nobody said you were "supposed" to know who he was and nobody told you to "rush out" and see the movie.

well, i'm positive i'd never heard of this character or the books until i saw it on this thread, and i'm positive that i've seen talking heads on tv and all over teh internets talking about it like it's a household name since this trailer was released.. i'm pretty positive that i'm supposed to just pretend he's been a part of my life for years and just go spend money on the movie and associated merchandise..

so, yeah, i post positive stuff..

Re: Jack Reacher movie - disappointment

I think it's pretty neat any time a Chevelle gets featured in a movie. I actually liked the movie trailer clip, pretty cool. Jack Reacher is a bit taller, though.
