Back in June,1967,after I graduated from high school I ordered a new Chevelle SS396-375hp Super Sport. I didn't know at the time but I had one of only 612 L78 powered 67 Chevelle SS396s.In 1969 the car was stolen while I was serving a tour of duty in VietNam. Twenty years later I decided to find another Chevelle SS like the one I had. Since then I've had four, and this one is the most interesting.
- Marina Blue
- black interior,
- 4-speed M21,
- bucketseats and console,
- factory tach and guages,
- 3:73 positraction axle.
During a complete body off frame restoration, the original 350hp 396 engine was replaced with a 67 Corvette L71 427-435hp "tripower 3x2" engine.
I took this one to National Chevelle Owners Chevelle Showdown in July of 96, and it scored 990 points and second place.Being that this car is a driver, and was competing against some beautiful trailer queens, allow me to brag a bit.
