1970 Malibu SS 396

My story starts back in January of 1970. When I first seen the 70 SS I fell in love with it. I already had a 68 SS that I purchased two years earlier. The new wife didn't like driving the 68. It had no power steering or power brakes and it was a four speed. So it didn't take much convincing her that we should trade it in on the 70 SS. We ordered the 70 SS in January 1970. The car finally arrived in March. We had ordered a cloth bench seat - power steering - power brakes. The car came through with the Z25 package front end.
Attached is the original Bill of Sale and the information that I received from GM of Canada's Vintage Vehicle Services. The local car dealers here in Greensburg PA wouldn't drop $50 to match a dealer 25 miles up the road. So Schade Chevrolet in Ligonier PA got my business. This car was made in Canada. There has been no changes made to it whatsoever. [With the exception of a new paint job]. It's completely orginal down to the Firestone Wide Ovals that came on it. There is 58000 miles on the car. The motor has never been out of the car. I've replaced the exhaust system this year and replaced it with the original type resonators.

I make the local car shows in my area and get quite a few complements. Also get people telling me that certain things aren't original. Being the diplomat that I am, I politely tell them they don't know what in the hell they are talking about. It doesn't take them long to get going. I belong to the Canadian Classic Chevelles & Beaumont Club. I stay in touch with Dave Weir, the Editor of the Club. He was the person who done all the leg work on getting my paper work off of GM of Canada.
