The engine is a small block 400 bored .030 over. It has a high flow adjustable Milodon oil pump to keep everything well lubed in hot or cold conditions. The crank is an Eagle forged steel that I had balanced and knife edged before dropping it in. The rods are H-Beam Eagle's to handle the extra stress, which are also balanced individually. The pistons are Keith Black forged aluminum dished, again balanced. The cam is a Comp Cam mechanical 260 degree duration with .555/.555 lift that is matched to dual springs rated for the extra pressure and Comp Cams 1.5 red roller rocker arms with the large studs. The cam is matched up to a Pete Jackson noisy gear drive for timing and that COOL SOUND!
The heads are Edelbrock performer RPM's with 2.02/1.60 Manley stainless valves which received a 7 angle competition cut. The heads were milled 60 thousands and were completely ported and polished. The intake is a Holley Dominator which was milled 60 thousands to match the heads. On top of that I put a Super Sucker phenolic spacer which added 14 horses on the dyno! The carb is a Race Demon R/S 775. This is all sparked by a MSD 6AL box and an MSD billet adjustable collar distributor tied together with 8.5 MSD wires.
This was Dyno'd on an engine Dyno to break it in and after approximately 24 hours of this it put up just about 600 horses with 91 octane and and just over with 104 octane. I put a Be Cool radiator in with a high flow Weiand water pump and hung an electric fan. I've also installed an oil cooler with a separate fan all tied together with AN fittings and braided steel lines. The fuel pump is an electric Holley Blue pump with a matching regulator witch also goes to a separate cooler and fan which is again tied together with AN fittings and braided lines. The tranny is a TH350 with a shift kit and other goodies. The shifter is a B&M Pro stick with a Skull for a knob :-)
The rear end is out of a 70 Chevelle with after-market 4:56 gears and a Eaton posi unit.I put Lakewood Action Traction bars on the bottom to replace the stock control arms and Jegs adjustable upper control arms on top. The disk brakes in front are also out of a 70 Chevelle.
The interior is all original material with bench seats front and back (all black vinyl) except for the dash which I pulled out and rewired and restored. The new gauge cluster and panel is an after market piece from Haneline which is engine turned steel. The exhaust is handled by headers and 2.5 in tubes going back to some quiet Thrush mufflers capped at the end by stamped Bow Tie tips. Just after the header's I have electronic cut outs on a momentary switch so I can make it as loud or quiet as I want (usually loud!...LOL)
The wheels are Weld Draglite's 15" with 275/60's in back and 235/60's in front. The steering and brakes are all manual (the way I like on a car such as this). The shocks and springs are after market to give it the stance I like (nice and high).
It's originally a Malibu however I've made it into my own version of an SS (not a clone!) It had 98,000 orginal miles on it when I bought it and I've put approximately 6,000 more on since then (1/03). The cowl hood is steel and is 4.5 inches tall.
The paint job was done as a final exam for someone who took night classes at college to learn how to paint. Not bad for a free paint job eh?
