1971 Chevelle SS454

Kirk Cunningham

Lubbock, Texas

I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed cruising 'Team Chevelle' There are some beautiful cars to look at. Many hours of hard work.
My Chevelle has been in the making since 1988. I can appreciate the work that many enthusiasts have put into their cars since I have given my Chevelle my best shot.

Since this is a FRAME OFF restoration it has all new brake lines and brakes, suspension bushings and bearings, sandblasted and painted frame, fresh undercoating for sound.

The motor is NOT-SO-STOCK. As we all know this model came with flat-top pistons. I replaced them with a dome piston and cam that has a little "bump" to it.october2002_interior_.jpg - 7105 Bytes

The motor runs on regular unleaded gas and it sounds great! I put an Edelbrock manifold and Carb on the completely rebuilt engine. This is a matching #'s car, however the paint was originally Brown. It was replaced with a beautiful Red paint and Black "painted" stripes. The restoration is only 150 miles or 3 months old. The upholstery is new throughout as is the trunk pad.

The only items I have to do in order for this car to be complete are: sunvisors (which are at the upholstery shop), hook up the antenna to it's new late style, removable face CD player and install the windshield washer system which is presently in a box in my garage.
