The History of My 1970 Chevelle SS396
My Chevelle was purchased in the summer of 1974. In my weekly travels with some buddies to a large local car dealer, I spotted this recently traded-in auto sitting in a back-lot in really bad shape.
My SS396 had been recently traded-in; a sad case of a stolen auto given up by it's owner. Windows smashed, seats torn out, ignition & door locks destroyed but MAN I fell in love with that car!
Sitting in the car that day, I was able to start her and the immediate rush I got from the sound of that 396 firing up was indescribable!!
I contacted my parents to get an OK and, by that night, drove out of Reedman's Chevrolet with a real machine: 350 horses, a 400 turbo trans and a 3:31 posi-traction rear - all factory installed.
My chevy provided many years of reliable transportation and a lot of racing/cruising fun. Upon reaching 148,000 miles in 1982, I decided to redo the entire car.
I'm into my 24th year with this car and, as you can see, a restoration project that lasted 8 years (1983-1991) has given me a muscle car to be proud of!
We really need your support!!!
