1970 Chevelle Malibu

John Wolak

Manchester, NH

My original intentions were to find an SS, but this car one day just jumped out in front of me. As I was driving down a side street in my town, I spotted the Chevelle parked under a carport, next to a vacant house. After leaving a couple of notes on the front door, I received a call from the owner of the homes son. His mother was the original owner of this car. She was in failing health and in a nursing home. He told me he would sell the car for $800.00, and I could have it the next day.

The car hadn’t been run for 10 years, the tires were flat, and the paint faded, but there were only 36,000 miles on the car, and it still had the original tires, belts, and hoses.

I’ve since had the bodywork done, a new vinyl roof, and replaced the interior. The car was repainted the original #45 Green Mist. Being a Canadian built Chevelle, I was able to have the car documented through GM of Canada. I also have the build sheets that were found up inside of the seat cushions.

My intentions are to keep this car stock original, which it is now, right down to the refurbished hubcaps.
