1967 Chevelle

Kevin Stoodly - Edmonton, Alberta

It all started for me as a young guy of 6, where I remember admiring all the muscle cars driving around. From such an early age, I loved them and knew I would have to have one when I was old enough to drive.
Well I kept that promise to myself and had a 68 Camaro SS when I turned 16. One year later I also became the owner of a 66 Chevelle SS. Things were looking good as now I owned two cool cars.
Sadly I got into a 4x4 phase and my cars were sold off to fund my crazy off road actions. Well it took a few years and I got the off road madness out of my system (but what great madness it was!) Well today I'm 41 years old, and have owned since the crazy 4x4 days another 68 Camaro, two 67 Camaros and a 71 Z28, and also did another 4x4. Anyhow, two years ago (39 years old), I went on the hunt again for that muscle car I was missing in my life. Not exactly sure if I wanted to go back to an old Camaro again, I came across this very clean and straight 67 Chevelle. Well, I always had this love for Chevelles as I owned the 66 in my younger days. I made a deal on the car and onto the flat deck it went to it's new home.

It is now 2 years later and I have a grand total of about 10 miles on it, but it's very close to being ready for the rad which now will be the summer of 2006.

january2006_engine.jpg - 20543 Bytes The tired 283 was removed and a very healthy 461 big block was built by a local performance shop and was put into it's new home. It's built with all the good stuff, too much to mention. They also beefed up the powerglide and added a 2800 stall converter. This is currently running back to a 10 bolt 3.08 non posi and will be changed out to a 12 bolt posi before the '06 driving time comes. I also completely replaced all front end componets and added power front discs for that added stopping option. All rear brakes were also replaced staying with the drums. All new big block springs were installed and Monroe shocks. The engine bay, the underneath, interior and exterior was repainted by a friend (and we spent many hours with great results!). All new 3 inch exhaust and all the chrome pieces on the car were replaced, EVERY PIECE! I chose to go with the torque thrust 2's on 15x7's on the front and 16x8's on the rear wrapped in BFG TA's. Also added a new vinyl top. Well as you all know this is the condensed version of the things I've done to the car. Just too many things to mention.

Oh yea, the car now has the pfdb, ps, air, tilt, buckets, console, tach and gauges. This car started life as a Malibu, but since it came my way (with a lot of help from my friend Greg), we've made a very nice SS clone. After all the time and money spent on this new Chevelle, I'm glad we crossed paths and look forward to summer.
