My Chevelle is a 1972 SS, 350, 4 speed with a 373 posi rear.
Where do you start when you have over 32 years of stories? That's right I bought the car new. Rather than bore you with details I will tell you a couple of interesting points. The reason for the 350 cu in. engine is simple. The salesman who sold me the car was my uncle, he was also cosigning the loan for me and told me there will be no big block engine. If you want this car it's a 350 or nothing. Well, although I do wish it was a big block I have to think to myself. Would I be writing this letter had it been.
I remember old Unc. laughing as I drove out of the dealership with me telling him I would never get rid of this car and someday would past it on to my son if I ever had one. Well I do have a son now who is 24 years old and he is patiently awaiting for that pass on day.
It was my only means of transportation for about 7 years, then finally I was able to afford another vehicle and was able to put it away for only nice days.
Over the years most everything has been refurbished, as it came from the factory. It does now have a mild cam and headers to add a bit of pep. We go to shows and do a lot of nice day driving. People always get a big thrill when I crank up the 8 track tape.
I wish I could say I had done a lot of smart things as a kid, but I can't, except maybe...............keeping this car. Mike Martinez
