Be Careful About Low Indicator Point

MG: I want to put in a TH350 transmission in place of my Powerglide in my '65 El Camino. How can I retain my column shifter and how do I make the column shifter marks line up?

MA: You can do one of two things: Buy or find a new insert for the shift indicator (it's a separate bolt-in piece of the gauge package) or adjust the indicator. On the right-hand side of the column about half way down you will find a small metal clip secured by one screw. The screw rides in a slot. Use this to adjust how far the indicator moves. The indicator "floats" and is hooked to a spring on the "P" end of the scale. When you move the shifter a cable pulls the indicator to the right. Be careful that you don't adjust is too far to the right, you can break the indicator when you put the transmission in low.
