A Donor Would Help.
CS: I currently have a Powerglide with a 230ci six and I am putting in a 283ci with a TH350. The 230's throttle linkage goes down and it appears that I need a linkage that goes up. What do I do about the kickdown for the transmission, and what do I need as far as a mount on the carburetor?RL: A friend took a six out of a Camaro and put in a V8. The pedal linkage is all right, it's how it hooks to the carburetor that determines which way it goes. If it is hooked above the pivot, it will pull back; if hooked below, it will be pushed forward. You will need a donor car for the bracket that you need for transmission kick-down. You'll need its cable if you don't have it with the transmission. This bracket also holds the end of the throttle cable on cars with the floating gas pedal. On Chevelles I think this started in 1968. You should be able to find these in salvage yards on cars still with their carburetors. Any V8 4- barrel Chevy should work.
