No, But They Are Still Useful.
B_: I just picked up some heads for $30.00 at a swap meet. The casting number is 6272292, date code 2-1-71. I believe them to be from a passenger car or a truck, but one of my books shows a 454 Corvette application. What are these heads from? Can you find any other information about them, i.e., valve sizes, chamber and runner volume, etc.?SC: Those are oval port, open chamber heads that use 2.06 intake and 1.72 exhaust valves. I believe they are 105 cc volume. They were used on LS3 402 and LS5 454 engines in 1971.
C_: They are still a good buy if they Magnaflux or sonic check all right. You'll spend as much getting them machined for larger valves and a valve job and a few new guides, however, as if you just bought something already done. If they suit your needs with no machining, it is a good deal.
