DZ: Has any one had any luck getting a Hurst Super Shifter to work in a 70 Chevelle SS with the console in place? I love the function of the Super Shifter over the Comp Plus, but like the stock look of the console.

JD: I have had a Super Shifter and I agree that it's a nice shifter. The problem with them is the straight shifting rods. Judging from the size and location of the hole required to clear the shifter & rods, I would say it's impossible to have one fit a factory console.

BTU: The Super Shifter will not fit a factory console. I recently took out my Super Shifter and bought a new Comp Plus. I welded in a new floor piece and reinstalled my console. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner, the Comp Plus isn't that much different to drive even if speed shifting and looks a whole lot better with the console. put the money into good machine work and good parts first.
