And Use Silicone Sealer

JD: Most of the arguments against headers are about exhaust leaks. I found a solution to this problem years ago while buying gaskets. I joked to the owner of my local speed shop about how I had to change header gaskets every six months. He suggested GE High-Temp silicone sealer. At first I laughed, but he assured me it would work. I tried it and it worked like a charm. It's not a permanent fix but it lasts about three to four times longer than without. Just put a bead of it on both sides of the header and collector gaskets, let it set up as per directions, and install as usual.

GM: Another tip that I found in a header catalog is that the gasket should match the header port (round in my case) , not the exhaust port (square). After changing to the round type big block Mr. Gaskets gaskets, I haven't had any problems. Also, one thing I've always done is re-torque them after the first run.
