Experience Says Yes
CM: Will a later 10 bolt (1974 vintage, 3.42:1 Positraction) that originally came from a 454 equipped El Camino stand up to the stress imposed by an LS-6 if tires are, say 235 70 R15? It would see some hard acceleration, but not be a strip warrior. I seem to remember a recall in the late 70's on the GM A-bodies from '73 - '77 for the rear axle.J_: I have a 1974 with a 454ci, TH400 and a stock 10 bolt Positraction with 273 gears. The engine was built with 10.5 cr, 520 lift cam, oval port heads, and dual plane intake with a 650cfm spread bore Holley. I have done some wild burn outs and haven't had any problem with the rearend. I run 245 60 R15's.
