Not Difficult:

B._. :   I am thinking about adding power brakes to my 1965. Will I need to do anything other then get a power booster. Will I need a new master cylinder? I have drum brakes.

J._. :   This is a task that is somewhat easy. All you need is a sound disc/drum donor car. I used a 1970 Chevelle for my 1964. I used the spindles, discs, calipers, power booster, and master cylinder. The only problem I had was the proportioning valve sprung a leak that was not fixable. I found a combination valve from a 1973 Chevelle that worked fine. Remember that early A-bodies used a metering block and a proportioning valve. You can use a combination valve from a later Chevy of the same weight without problems. I also ran all new brake lines. Just be careful not to over-crimp on the double flare or you might have leaks.

D._. :   I recently added power brakes to my 1967. I used a 1967 Camaro booster. It is smaller than a Chevelle booster and it bolted right up to the fire wall. I did not even have to break the lines loose from the master cylinder that was on my car. I unbolted it, bolted on the booster, and then put the master cylinder on the booster.

C._. :   If possible, locate a 1964-1967 booster unit. It will clear your inner fender panel and not rub like the later models.
