Our Canadian neighbors share many things with Americans,
not the least of which is a passion for Chevelles.

Rick and Em Outingdyke, of Victoria, British Columbia are the proud owners of this pristine '64 Canadian-built Chevelle. It is one of only 769 V-8 sedans built that year, and they have the documentation to prove it. Originally sold in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Outingdykes were fortunate enough to purchase their Chevelle in 1990 from the original owner with only 70,000 miles showing on the ticker. And even though the Ermine white '64 was in excellent condition, they decided to redo the car to their liking.

Coming or going, this is one classy Malibu sedan. Wire wheel covers, bumper guards, dual antennas, and sill moldings really dress it up!

Original equipment on the car included a 195-horse 283 backed by a Powerglide transmission, power steering and brakes, padded dash, two-speed wipers, pushbutton AM radio with rear speaker, custom deluxe seat belts, body sill moldings, and rear window defroster.

While it was far from being considered a "stripper," more options were added while the car was being refurbished. They include a power seat, vacuum trunk opener, dual rear antennas, auxiliary light package, L&R bowtie mirrors, dash-mounted clock, tach and gauges, F&R bumper guards, wire wheel covers, parking brake indicator, four-way flasher, locking gas cap, wood wheel, tissue dispenser, tinted glass, and child-resistant door locks. As you might imagine, plenty of time and effort went into tracking down and installing many of those rare options. High on the priority list for installation next is a tilt column.

Creature comforts abound inside Outingdykes' Chevelle, including tach and gauges, dash clock, wood wheel, and power seat.

Rick claims his Chevelle " is not a trailer queen," and is driven regularly to events in British Columbia and the northwestern United States. And to back up his claim, the odometer now reads 90,000 miles!
It holds its own at the car shows, too, taking home its share of the gold, despite (as Rick points out) the fact that it's a four-door sedan.

As an officer of the Canadian Classic Chevelle and Beaumonts, Rick encourages all other Canadian ACES members (and American members with Canadian-built Chevelles ) to join their club, too. They can provide a tremendous amount of information on Canadian-built Chevelles and Beaumonts, including critical differences between Canadian- and American-built models, production numbers, and how to decipher cowl tags and VIN's.
