Comments: I have a 1970 Malibu, I put a 454 engine with a 700r4. The car has all drum brakes and I want to change the whole brake system to disc brakes. I know I can do the front ones but I'm clueless with the back ones. Would I look for a late model rearend?? Are there kits out there for old chevy cars??? If anyone knows any information on that let me know. Also does anyone know about air ride shocks?? I have seen it on some cars on TV. It makes the car ride smooth. If anyone has any info on anything, let me know.

I can't decide between these and Hooker Super Comp headers.

It's the first time we ever purchased anything without actually viewing first. We took a chance I hope we won't be dissapointed. She's less a motor and tranny but according to the seller she's solid and in fairly good condition. Let you all know when she arrives.

I truly beleive that the guy I bought the car from was told that by his previous owner who had the car for 12 years in storage. He paid $11,500 at the time. I'm a bit dissapointed, but still think the deal I got on it is great.I feel like a 8 year old waiting for Christmas to arrive in the middle of December! Have a good 4th 0f July. Later.

Comments: I have a 1970 L78 396. My problem is that the machine shop that set up my heads cut too deep for the new valve seats, and cut into the water jacket. The seats would leak coolant into the cylinders. I have found a set to replace the bad heads, but I dont want to trash them. No other machine shops in my area are willing or able to repair them. A couple of months ago I came across a web site for a company that specializes in repairing damaged cast iron motors, but I cant remember their site address. Does anbody know where I can have these heads repaired?

Having the engine (396-375)rebuilt so I have to truck it to the shop.(about 40 miles).Never met the guy,nor do I even know where his shop is (got a map),but I got a good feeling about him after talking on the phone. Engine is out of car and is a basket case, but everythings there. I want it built basically stock and should take around 3 weeks. He will also Dyno it.($400). The rest of the car is in very nice shape. No dents, decent paint, above average interior.New tires, shocks, rebuilt front end. Cowl hood, stripes, buckets,Posi.Just needs a good clean up. It's a Canadian car so I just sent away for the vin number trace. They keep excellent records up north.I always loved these cars when I was a kid,and never thought I would get one for myself.I just hope I'm making the right decision. But really, for $3500,I just couldn't turn it down. Would you?

Comments: I'm looking for information on a 1970
Chevelle I purchased in April from a
private party in the Upper Peninsula.

The car has a rebuilt 1971 402 4bbl, a
th400, what I believe to be a 12 bolt
3.73 rear end(open). It was painted Mulsanne Blue
with black stripes, and was sold as an
SS, but has a Monte dash(hmm...). The
paint code on the firewall is Cortez
Silver(14).

In particular, I'm looking for someone
who may have worked on the car, because
it was frame-off restored and the motor
rebuilt when I bought it. I'm interested in the specs on the
motor(it was rebuilt by someone in Wisconsin)
in the summer of 2000. I probably got "cloned"
by this guy(who was mum on the car's past)
but the car looks great and has great floors
and trunk panels. Any infomation on this car
is appreciated-it originally came from New Mexico
and has the following VIN:

136370R218237

I am in the process of fixing up a 1970 chevelle malibu 350. Here is my problem, this is my first chevelle and I have not had much luck finding a decent parts place. I contact Original Parts Group...but to be frank...a majority of those guys are a**holes. I used to own a couple of classic mustangs...and I know it's hard to find a place you can trust for parts. This is why I am asking anyone out there for a place that they have ordered a variety of parts from with good prices and customer service.

Sorry if anyone takes offense to the comment about Original Parts Group, but I would be more than happy to try them again if you can give me a name of someone who is helpful and not a jerk.

Thanks in advance,

Comments: I'm restoring my '70 Chevelle SS 396 (actually a 402). I need help identifying my exact engine. The stamp on the block reads CE164829. I'm told the "CE" means it was a replacement short block, probably because the original engine blew while under factory warranty. Can anyone decode my stamp number? Thanks!

Comments: I have a 1969 chevy elcomino that I am currently trying to restore. The man that I purchased the car from told me it had a 70 chevelle SS front clip on it.Now since these are both A body cars and chevy was good with interchanging parts during these years I did'nt even question it. Well I put the car in the ditch and tore up both of my fenders beyond repair. So this is my question,if the inner wheelhousings for a 68 to 72 chevelle/elcomino are the same what is the difference on the outer fenders other than the grill? Even the core support is the same from a 70 elcomino to a chevelle. Now I do know the fender extensions are different lengths, but if the gentleman I bought the car off of already changed them then what would be the big deal? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It feels like it! PROBLEM: Cluth worn, removed 10.4" and noticed the (6) mounting holes on the 11" cluth pack I wrongly bought line up with untapped holes on my 10.4" flywheel. I would prefer the 11" clutch. I would like to know if I can use my existing flywheel by tapping out the untapped holes that line up with the 11" clutch pack? / Otherwise what other option's would I have to get a larger clutch. money limited, and I want to do it right the first time. I have put on an K&N air filter,Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, Crane Cam adv. duration 266 degrees & at .050 lift is .440 on both intake and exhaust, and B&M rachet shifter. It has dual ehaust and I have SS 14x7 Ralley wheels instead of the malibu hub caps. The 0-60 time now is 7.2. This is not bad for a almost 2 ton car with only 5.0 liters of displacement. I plan on putting in a 400ci 425hp smallblock, shift kit, and either a limited slip or posi unit when changeing the rear gear from 3.08 to 3.55. The most fun I have is beating mustangs that owners doesn't know there butt from a hole in the ground much less what a chevelle is.

Ac and non ac cars firewalls are different. Question is, can a firewall from a non ac car be transplanted to make an ac car non ac? Or would this be more trouble than its worth?

Any help would appreciated!

Currently has a 450 horse 502, turbo 400 and 4.11 posi. Runs low 12s at 106mph. May put in roller cammed, 13 to 1 468 for more go power. I found the original build sheet under the carpet, but it has been turned black by the sound deadener. I can only make out about half of it. Does anyone know how to get a reprinted copy of the build sheet?

My father in law bought 1970 Chevelle SS LS-6 4 spd bench seat brand new in CA. when he was in Marines. He drove it home when he was discharged. Few months later, it was stolen right on his driveway. It was in Blue Island, IL. Right now, I am trying to track it down and relocate this very car for my father in law. Is there any way to get some information with VIN #'s and insurance or police reports that might have VIN#'s and who bought the car? Is there some Chevelle LS-6 club out there that is registered for LS-6 owners? Thanks very much in advance for any one of you who is able to help me out. LS-6 is awesome!

It'll have a .30 over 350/350, disc brakes, fiberglass front end, and a bunch more extras as soon as I dig up and install all of the rest of the parts I've bought for it so far....

Okay ill try to make this short, but i want to make sure i can get a baseline established. My name is Brandon and im 15. I just bought a 1970 Chevelle SS 402 last june for 2500.00 I have a seasonal job that has luckily made me about 4000.00 so far for my car. I have to fund everything on my car:-(
Heres the deal... the car is not bolted to the frame, i have the front clip, doors and trunk lid off.( to make light as possible for moving) So, i was wanting to ask all of u what u would do NEXT??? I have approximately 1000.00 to spend. I was thinking that it might be the time to get the body prepped and ready for paint while everything is apart. Is this a good idea?!?!?!? Or should i sand, primer and drive it the way it is,and spend my money on a motor( i have a trans that just needs a freshening).
ANY HELP OR THOUGHTS OR ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks again!

The only missing part, is the "bench seat w/ the "u-shaped" cut out in the center for the four speed shifter to travel. I stupidly sold it for $15 and bought bucket seats. If anyone has this bench for a 70SS, please email me. Thanks

The car is yellow with black stripes and black bucket seats w/console.The hole interrior has been redone completly same for the engine ( over 30m. ) and trans.( w/shift kit ). The car is a real eye catcher and every time i drive it to local show ( this car is not economical on gas w/ holley 750 ) peaple tumb me up when they see and hear the noise of that beast. Everything on it is SS but the vin plate and in my case i know because this car was restaured meticulously by me and i enjoy ryding it once a week on sunny week-end only.

basically still learning about what it exactly has in it, but i know it has lifters in back end, hurst shifter, 350 sm. block with edelbrock parts: ie, carb, ect. burgundy exterior, with black interior, almost mint, needs tinkering and fine tuning to look great. already has so much power I'll never use all of it in one moment, but i certainly intend to try!!!
Needs seatbelts, mirrors (exterior), and inspection, to be street legal...also needs vinal top re-attached to return it to original condition, as previous owner took it off...

I am only 18 years old, but I can't wait to get out there and start winning some awards. The car is a true SS, Bright blue with black stripes, black interior, and a 383 stroker. I just put 17" Centerline wheels on it not too long ago, and I am a salesman at Circuit City Roadshop, so it's got a killer system. Right now, Custom Car Crafters is fininshing up on the paint, the rest of the car is redone, but it's not restored by any means. About half the work we've done so far is customizing.

Is it rare for stripe delete...? How rare is "ZP3 SPCL PAINT" option on a build sheet.?

close ratio, bench seat. I ordered this car Oct of 1969, and received it in Dec. 12
1969. It has a 396-350 h.p. 410 stock gears, all instruments, 280 duration magnum
comp cam w/520 lift roller rockers. 2.19 and 1.88 valves. Edelbrock rpm alum
manifold,750 Holly carb double pumper. Hurst competition shifter, Hooker
competition headers W/thermal barrier coating. The car looks stock until you crank it. I
had it restored in 1991, and it looks better now than when I bought it. The Monster, as
I call it because I created it, won 19 trophies in one year at car shows. I dont show it
any more, but I drive it to the coffe shop during the week w/my other hot rod friends.

Comments: Hey I have a 1971 Chevelle or at least I think it is. I checked the VIN numbers and it says that it is a 71 but everything from the front to back and including the inside make it look like a 1970. Did they make some of the 1971 Chevelles look like 1970? From what I know how to tell a 70 and 71 apart is that to 71 has two circle tail lights and one headlight where as the 70 which looks like mine has two headlights and one square tail light. Either it was built like that or someone did on heck of a job of making it look like a 70. I hope that someone can help. Also I am looking for front seatbelts. The rachet kind preferablly. I don't need any for the back because there isn't going to be anyone riding in the back. I just need the lap belts but if you have the shoulder strap that is fine to. Thank you. Bj Copp

Comments: I have a 1970 Chevelle SS 396, 350 HP, Forrest Green with an automatic transmission. I have done a frame-off restoration and finally started replacing the wiring harnesses. Under the hood, I found that the oil sending unit appears to be located near the oil filter, based on the wiring harness I have, but I am not sure. There is a plug above the oil filter, but it is bigger than a sending unit, it would take an adaptor if this is where the sending unit belongs. Also, the wiring harness indicates that the water temperature sending unit is in the right side cylinder head and is a two-pronged type sending unit. The unit I currently have only has one prong where the wire connects. If anyone can help me with these minor problems for me, I would really appreciate it. DLS

Comments: Hey everyone. I have a stumper here and if anyone could help it would be wonderful. I came across a '70 Chevelle SS(supposed to be) it has a 454 (non matching) and Borg Warner Super T10 Transmission also non matching. I am concerned whether it is an SS or not. I have tried books, people, etc. All to no help. All the emblems are correct, door panels say SS. The steering wheel says SS along with the rear bumper. It has Cowl Induction, Stripes, and Hood Pins. Front Disc Brakes, Rear Sway bar and boxed in rear suspension along with power steering. It also has the SS wheels. All of these clues lead me to believe it is a genuine one. The seller says he's not sure if it is an SS or not. The rear end is 12 bolt positraction too. The rear seat is original and I am not sure if the build sheet is in there or not. (i'm not able to take it off and see because its not my car). If ANYONE has ANY clues or tips AT ALL pleeeeease help a fellow chevell-er out!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Comments: i bought my car in 1981, with money from my high school graduation, for $800.00. it was in good shape, i had the engine rebuilt, new wheels and tires, and i was off!

i belive i am the third owner, but i'm not sure.

i wrecked the car in '83, rear-ended somebody, and took out the whole front clip. (bumper, fenders, hood, etc...)

i then "cobbled" it up, and put a one piece fiberglass front end on it, and drove it 'til about '83, which is when i parked it, and moved away from my hometown, to pursue a career.

the car has sat since then. i just recently bought a "parts" car, and i hope to be able to restore mine in the near future.

my car is a "numbers matching" (block matches vin plate, not original trans, i assume everything else is original).

my car is deep forest green, with a green vinyl top, no stripes or cowl induction, black interior, buckets with console, Hurst four speed, muncie tranny, SS dash with tach, posi rear end with 4:11's, Cragar SST's with Firestone Super Sports, ladder bars, fun car to drive, last timed in the quarter mile at around 14:10.

can't wait to get it out and drive it again!

Comments: Hey all just wondering if anyone has ideas, specs or even a complete project car they wouldnt mind sharing exact parts and build information with me. the objective is to build a city/country driveable pro street machine thats not too odvious to the local athourities but without loosing the muscle big rearend look within a college kid with a crap job budjet. i really got psyched up on a car i saw in an old issue of Chevy High performance i think it was june 97 and they had this beautiful red and white malabu that was built up to be a chevelle ...anyways i want an everyday driver that can get somewhere between 14 to 18 mph to the gallon i dont want to tear out the rearend for tubs but i want decent fatties in the rear and somewhere in the 300 range of horses untill i get used to it
( upgrade ideas as i go along to boost it )

what kinda engine should i look to rebuild and what should be done to give dependable performance day in and out but race on a sunday ?
what kinda rear and tranny (i wanna keep it automatic)
should disc brakes be all around
what suspension should be used to keep it "road worthy"
what problems are chevelles notorious for and what should be fixed first
what kind of exhaust system should be used to get the performance / quiteness ratio

i dont have the car yet(still in search and savings mode) i just want to get a basic run down of what should be done to convert it
i just got the car bug but finally after 19 yrs of dreaming im gonna act on it

thanks for ANY info and please feel free to email me and if anyone has a decent 70's that needs work but is drivable in the meantime LET ME KNOW !!!!

thanks again
alex

Comments: I have a 70 chevelle. I got it about a year ago. It needs somebody work, but not mager work. When I bought it, it had about 54,000 miles on it. Next year I hope to put a 350 in it. Right now it has a 307. Last year I had the power-glide taken out and put a turbo 350 with a shift kit. The work is taking awhile, but it also take a bit of money. It will get there one of these days. It also helps that I deal with a lot of garages. I work in a auto parts store. That also helps with the prices of other parts.

The only block markings it has it "GM 4.7 L.C" Maybe it was bought directly from the factory, block only. Also It has a ton of rust and I'm getting estimates of $15.000 to do the body work (frame Off). Does this seem about right? Any commets would be apprieciated. Thanks.

Body's good, interior's great, and the engine seems strong. Biggest problems we're running into are due to the fact the car was diven less tha 1,000 miles over the past ten years. It was stored inside, thankfully, so no rust but now, we're seeing leaking seals. No surprise there. Experienced the same thing with our 1966 Impala and it's turned into a real nice car.

Comments: ACTUALLY MY 70 CHEVELLE WAS OR HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR QUITE SOMETIME NOW. IT WAS PURCHASED UP IN AUSTIN TX, BY ONE OF MY UNCLES. HE HAD IT FOR SOMETIME AND PASSED IT DOWN TO HIS BROTHER IN LAW WHICH IS MY OTHER UNCLE. HE HAD IT FOR SOMETIME AS WELL BUT COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH IT. IT WAS UNDER A CARPORT FOR ABOUT 4 YRS. NOBODY WANTED TO MESS WITH IT NOT EVEN I DID. I GUESS I WASN'T INTO CHEVELLES AT THAT TIME. I GUESS MY DREAM OF HAVING A 68 CAMARO WAS STILL ALIVE. IT WAS NOT UNTIL A GUY CAME BY AND WANTED TO GIVE MY UNCLE $800 IN PAYMENTS. THATS WHEN I STEPPED IN. I KNEW THIS CAR WAS WORTH MORE, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY UNCLE JUST WANTED THE MONEY. I TOLD MY UNCLE TO JUST LEAVE IT THERE AND I WOULD FIX IT UP. THE GUY INSISTED ON HIM SELLING THE CAR. MY UNCLE TOLD HIM THAT ACTUALLY HE WAS WAITING FOR ME TO SPEAK UP BECAUSE HE WANTED THIS CAR TO STAY IN THE FAMILY. SO HE SOLD IT TO ME FOR $400 CASH. IT TOOK ANOTHER 2 YRS BEFORE I COULD ACTUALLY START ON MY CAR. WHEN I GOT TO THIS CAR THERE WAS SURFACE RUST ON IT BUT IT HAD GOTTEN THE HOOD AND THE TOP OF BOTH FENDERS. THIS CAR CAME OUT W A 307 AND 3 SPEED COLUMN SHIFTER. THE ORIGINAL MILES ARE 79,000. THE ENGINE IS NOW SMOKING DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE LET IT SIT FOR A PRETTY LONG TIME. SINCE DAY 1 I HAVE BOUGHT SOME 15X8 WELD DRAGLITES AND MAN DOES THIS CAR LOOK NICE. IT IS PRIMERED GRAY AT THE MOMENT BUT IS LOOKING FOR A NEW COAT OF PAINT. WHAT I REALLY NEED AT THE MOMENT IS A REAR WINDOW. MY WINDOW POPPED OUT WHEN I WAS CRUISING MY CHEVELLE AT A SPORTS COMPLEX HERE IN HARLINGEN. PEOPLE LAUGHED BUT I JUST CAN'T WAIT TILL THEY SEE AND HEAR THIS CHEVELLE ROAR IN THE NEAR FUTURE, AND ABOUT MY DREAM CAR "CAMARO"
WELL I OWN ONE "CHEVELLE". I WILL NEVER TRADE OR SELL MY PRIDE AND JOY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS.

The only diference I know is the size of the yoke. Just need to know if it will be a direct bolt in without any new console or shift cable parts. Also my other '72 has a noisy 12 bolt posi in it whenever you turn and the mechanics tore it apart and said there wasn't anything wrong with it, just noisy. They went ahead and replaced springs in it and it worked fine for two weeks until the noise came back. It doesn't make any noise until you've drove it about 20 miles. They say sperm whale oil is the only cure. Anybody had this problem? I could use all the suggestions i can get. Thanks alot

Heres a real good question for all u "original equipment"gurus!
Of course everyone knows that in 1970 u could get a 396 or a 454 in an SS. U could get the LS-5 or the king,LS-6. But upon some researching the other day about my SS 396, I discovered these two words together,an LS-5 396!!! Is there such a thing as an LS-5 396???? If anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Comments: I own a 1970 Chevelle SS396 that I purchased from a junkyard 6 years ago. It was complete except for a motor, transmission, and rearend, and in decent but not good shape. I already had one 70SS396, so I just had bought this one for parts. I paid a mere $400.00 for the whole thing and $20.00 to haul it home. (the junkyard was just 45 miles from my house) When I started disassembling the car, upon removing the passenger side door panels, I found a probably amazing discovery. The original build sheet! But that wasn't what got me excited, though. As I read through the options, there it was RPO code L78! I thought I'd died and went to Heaven right there! I have had enough knowledge of the L78, enough that there were only 2144 ever made. It was a customer order, the man had bought it new in Knoxville, Tennessee. I then sold my other Chevelle to pursue this one. I did get the clean title with it and it matched the body #'s, door, etc. Everything was there and in order. This car is wrecked, though, but not bad. I did a title search, and found the original owner. When I had contacted him, upon conversation, had found I was good friends with his son, who I had went to college with for 3 years! Wow! He invited me down, let me look at original pictures of the car, and gave, (that's right, GAVE) me every original part he had. SS wheels, air cleaner, pictures. It turned out that his daughter had wrecked it in 1981, and it went to the junkyard, where it had sat until 1994 when I bought it. He had took out the L78, turbo 400 and 355 12-bolt, and wheels, and hood. The car is solid forest green, no stripes, dark green top, dark green int, buckets. It doesn't have the gauge package, just the round SS stock inst. lights. The car now is sitting down here in my barn, unrestored. Before I start on it, I would need to get some reactions from some readers. Is this a really hot candidate to restore? It'll probably cost $10,000 to $15,000 to do it right. And, if I do, I'll need a correct code engine(CTY). Is there anyone out there? I have a CTW but that's everything correct, but the wrong horsepower. I would like to hear some suggestions please.

My question is; Do I have to change the bellhousing when converting from a small block (307) to a big block (454)?
Please advise. I just want to do it right!! It looks like it would be the first time anyone did anything right to her.

I stripped out all of the parts that I could salvage. The most valuable thing to me would be the Tachometer (6500 red line), but I don't know what to ask for it. Also the dash has no cracks but the radio holes are broken out at the bottom. Anybody have a guess as too how much they are worth? I want to put them in the Parts for Sale.

It was inside the driver's bucket seat, you have to take the back panel off and it's wrapped around the metal back support. It had a little rust on it , but overall it's ok. I know, to all the Chevelle experts this is no big deal, but it was nice to find. So if you're looking, thats where it is on the 70 SS Elcamino. See ya.

To the best of my knowledge it was ordered that way. PS, PB, console, air, lighted mirror, and hood pins are most of the options. The stock ralleye wheels and F70s make it look real sweet. It looks like a sleeper but the cowl hood and oval exhaust tips give it away. If that dosen't the mellow tone of the horses trying to get out will.

It has all the options that came with the custom Elcamino ss package, including cowl induction hood, 4 speed trans, posi rear, etc. My grandfather bought it new from my father who was a dealer at Holsey Chevrolet in Jersey City, NJ. It has 60,000 original miles and I have all the original paperwork including the protect-o-plate. I even have the original spare with 1970 air in it, it was never used! Now the bad news, the truck sat outside for approx. 27 years, about 3 years ago I rescued it from my grandfather's yard. He said If I can fix it, I can have it.Well, it needs quite a bit of work, but it will be great again!Any suggestions on how to do a reasonable restoration without going to the poor house??? Any contacts or chevelle clubs at the Jersey shore that could help? Thanks, Keith K.

Nice car, it is imported in holland about 2 years ago. It needs some restoration, but it's a daily driver. Right now I'm searching for info on about everything. It's quite hard to get some infos about american classics overhere, and there's not so much elky's running overhere too! I only know one more in my city for example. (a 1973 ) Right now I have one IMPORTANT QUESTION!
according to the VIN numbers the car is built 1970 in L.A. as a custom El Camino.......but the front is a 1969! Is it an early 1970 model or has somebody been messing around with it? (Replacing the front or so? I would be very pleased if somebody could help me out whith this. Also I cannot figure out the engine I.D. code it is CKI as far as I can see. Which type is it? Probably it's not the original because in the VIN lists this code for 1970 doesn't exist as far as I know. As far as I know now, it's a small block 350. If anybody has some info for me, please mail and help me out! The car is worth it!

Comments: Hello, I am a young guy who just acquired a 70 chevelle w/ a fairly high performance 402. It has an automatic turbo 400 tranny and a column shift. The engine has been completely redone. It has cast heads that have 2.19/1.88 valves, a hydro roller cam (or so I was told, but I haven't seen a hydro roller cam, only hydro or roller, never both in one) It has been punched out to a 408 (bored 30 over) with hyperutechnic flat top pistons. It has been topped off with a Weiand high rise intake and a Carter 750 carb. Right now the entire front clip is off the car, but it is brand new. It has new quarter panels and truck lid. very little rust. I'm hoping to get 500 hp from the engine, but we'll see. Does anyone know of any ways to really boost performance to get me in the 10 second et's? Right now I figure it'll run in the 12's. I bought the car from a guy for 2,500, do you think I got took? Anyone with power combos that work, or any suggestions at all would be HUGELY appreciated. Just e-mail me sometime. Thanks.

Has anyone seen any for sale on the net, or know what the average selling price should be? Thought I would get some input before making an offer.
Thanks!

Comments: I have a Nomad Station Wagon with dual-acting tail gate, 307, 3Spd column shift, with manual brakes, steering, and no A/C.
Included with the car was the original Owners Manual (Station Wagon), Title, Warrentee folder w/ P-O-P, 1969 Chevrolet Pre-Delivery Service and Adjustment Check Sheet, In Transit Card, Consumer Info folder, the A/C Service Booklet, and an Oklahoma Inspection recept from 6-8-70. :)
I plan on putting a 10.5 comp. ratio 454 with 292 dur. 550 lift w/ old torker intake and either a Th350 or 4Spd (can't decide which), Flapper hood, Posi with 390 gears.
Here's the lowdown on her from the paperwork that came with the car.
On 2-14-70 she left the Arlington Assembly plant and headed for Hoskins Chevrolet in Elk Grove Village, IL. On 5-27-70 she left the dealers lot with an Okie. Sensing Oklahoma summers, a Mark IV Auto Air Conditioning unit was installed by Henry the Speedometer Man from Oak Park, IL on 6-4-70. After a trip to Oklahoma and back and with 1450 miles on the clock, the Transmission was rebuilt by Clark Maple Chevrolet on 6-24.
She remained tagged in Oklahoma until 1980, where she sat until she was donated to the American Cancer Society. In July of 1999, my buddy bought it at their auction. He later sold it to me on the condition that he gets to keep the original hubcaps and I don't make an El Camino out of it. ( had 3 people asking him about that. Aint that a Sacrilege or something?) It now has black five Spoke Z28 wheels
thanks

Comments: Have a '70 SS 396. Blue w/black and white interior. Absolutely stock - no modifications - wouldn't have it any other way.

Dad was original owner. Became mine in '84 when I turned 16. In '87 I replaced both front fenders and left quarter with original parts ordered directly through GM (they were out of right quarters). Wish I'd had the money at the time to do a complete restoration, but that just wasn't to be for a high-school kid.

Anyway, after college I needed a commuter that got decent gas mileage so I took it off the road and put it in storage in a guy's barn. Years go by, priorities shift to wife, kids, house, etc., car still in storage. Last year we had a new house built - with 3-car garage so I could bring my baby back home. So here I am with the itch to clean it up and get it back on the road.

Mechanically sound but needs rocker panels, doors, right quarter panel, seats, and weather stripping to do it up right. I recall, years ago, having a catalog from a company out in CA that specialized in reproduction parts for Chevelles. May have even been called Chevelle Classics but I can't be sure. Does anyone know about this company or can anyone recommend a company that produces top quality replacement parts for Chevelles? If so, please respond by email. Thanks.

Looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of a real car. You know, you just don't get the same feeling or the second glances when you drive down the road in a '90 Corolla or Plymouth Voyager. :)

It has a 396-350 h.p. 410 stock gears, all instruments, 280 duration magnum comp cam w/520 lift roller rockers. 2.19 and 1.88 valves. Edelbrock rpm alum manifold,750 Holly carb double pumper. Hurst competition shifter, Hooker competition headers W/thermal barrier coating. The car looks stock until you crank it. I had it restored in 1991, and it looks better now than when I bought it. The Monster, as I call it because I created it, won 19 trophies in one year at car shows. I dont show it any more, but I drive it to the coffe shop during the week w/my other hot rod friends.
